Pop Star to dystopian princess


FKA Twigs is known for her avant-garde looks on and off the red carpet. Her style is heavily influenced by her music, and her ability to genre-blend is reflected in her fashion evolution. We'll go over how she established her eccentric looks and her takes on runway trends.

With the drop of her first album LP1, an avant-pop take on R&B with "glitchy" components, in 2014 she kept up with the trends. Strappy bustiers and flowy skirts took over the mid-2010s as we saw both on the runway and in the music festival scene but FKA Twigs kept her personal spin on the look.





She released her second album Magdalene in 2019, it was a fusion of electronic art pop and trip-hop, and her style during this era was heavily inspired by baroque and romantic elements. She may have even inspired the resurgence of the Vivienne Westwood corset.




The time between her 2019 album and her latest album Eusexua, was spent experimenting with more avant-garde looks. Her fashion starts taking on a futuristic feel as she moves on from the "goddess" styling from Magdalene. 



She debuted her signature hairstyle, the skullet, during The Crow press release which she starred in with Bill Skarsgård. She went all out during this press tour, styling runway outfits from Celine and Miaou to perfectly match her edgy style and give the looks the perfect dystopian aesthetic. 

Eusexua is a heavy techno and electronic-based album, having been inspired by her time in Prague. This era has brought on minimalist futuristic elements, large silver jewelry and geometric components. We also see a strong Rick Owens influence, particularly in her look at the Men's Fall 2025 show where she fully embodies the designer. 


FKA Twigs' creativity knows no bounds, from her music to her fashion she's known for her no-rules approach. A trendsetter who has to add her own touch to every look and fuses her musical releases to her personal aesthetics. Her taste is always evolving and I can't wait to see what she does next.
